How to Install Simple Screen Recorder in Ubuntu


Wanted to record your screen in Linux(in our case Ubuntu) and looking for a free software that can do that for you, then you are at the right place. Simple Screen Recorder is probably the best screen recorder for Linux that is currently available. It is free, fast and stable. It comes with very nifty and advance features that you mostly find in paid softwares. You can also record your game-plays from it for Linux.

Install Simple Screen Recorder in Ubuntu

For this I am assuming that you the basics of Linux (in this case Ubuntu) that how to open up Terminal and how to type in the commands in Terminal. For those who don’t know, click on the icon in Ubuntu

which is basically used to Search your computer in Ubuntu. Now type in Terminal and open it from there. Now type in the following commands in sequence:

1. Add PPA

Type in the following command in the Terminal to Add Maarten Baert PPA which is required to install Simple Screen Recorder

2. Update the package list

Type in the following command to update the package list

What this does is, it downloads the package lists from the repositories and “updates” them to get information on the newest versions of packages and their dependencies.

3. Install Simple Screen Recorder

Now to install Simple Screen Recorder, just type in the following command

When you type this command, it will ask you whether you want to download the file or not by asking you to press Y or N, so just press Y. It will download the file from the internet and install it.

4. Additional

If you want to record 32-bit OpenGL applications on a 64-bit system, type in the following command
